Review of Gettysburg (1993) by Robert W — 14 Apr 2009
Awesome and surprising, especially in its depiction of General Robert E. Lee as a man displaying cognitive dissonance in the face of impending disaster. I especially liked Jeff Daniels commanding the Maine troops at Little Round Top.
The sense of anxiety, fear, and desperation in those scenes made the war come to life. Would have been perfect, but there were some clunky scenes where the motivations of the Union and Confederate armies were presented in a long winded fashion.
