Review of Getaway (2013) by Arthur Z — 25 Apr 2014
Review:
I really didn't enjoy this movie. Watching Ethan Hawke drive a car for an hour and a half is not really what I call entertainment. The director tried his best to add in the kidnapping element, but that wasn't enough to save the film. Some of the stunts were pretty impressive, but the storyline was really weak and not that interesting. I found the girl in the car quite annoying because she just wouldn't shut up. Jon Voight's voice was a good addition but you never see him, which is a shame because the movie could have done with a character with some screen presence. Anyway, if you into car chases then this movie is for you but don't expect anything amazing. Disappointing!
Round-Up:
Ethan Hawke seems to be taking any acting job lately and none of them have blown up at the box office. Even this movie took a lose, which should show him that he is picking the wrong movies. Anyway this film deserved to go straight to DVD because it really is poorly made. I just hope that they don't bring out a sequel.
Budget: $18million.
Worldwide Gross: $10million.
I recommend this movie to people who are into there action movies with loads of car crashes and a kidnapping. 2/10.
