Get Shorty seemed to ride on it's starpower, I guess the producers were hoping to make a profit off from appealing to men with the involvement of the mafia and to women by making Travolta look handsome.
Danny DeVito was clearly a key investment as well. I think that this was one of Travolta's best roles, clearly it was tailored for him. The film featured a fairly interesting plotline intertwining the criminal world and the film business.
Scott Frank's script featured some good spots of dialogue and some entertaining scenes. Overall not a spectacular picture, but it had me satisfied.
