Review of Get Out (2017) by Facebook U — 24 Jan 2018
Some rocky music transitions and choppy editing right at the beginning had me worried during the opening few minutes, but I ended up loving 'Get Out'. Basically everything in the general critics' consensus is how I feel. It's funny, the acting is great. I found it to be more of a thriller than a horror, but nevertheless I was captivated the whole way through. And it's hard to find modern movies that are paced like this. Hopefully more pop up after this one's success.
Spoilers:
Although I enjoyed the resolution and the answers within, I found it kind of distracting how the twist in this was almost the exact same twist as in 'Being John Malkovich'. Perhaps it was meant to be an homage, who knows.
