Review of Get Out (2017) by David E — 04 Feb 2018
After hearing from word of mouth, I finally had the chance to watch "Get Out". I really enjoyed the acting (from being mostly serious with some funny moments), Peele's direction was neat, the settings were perfect (in the unsettling way), & it had an interesting story. However, I felt that the subject material of racism was... too enforcing. I understand the message Peele was sending, but it practically dragged for the first 30 to 50 minutes & came off as passive aggressive irritation/annoyance instead of creepy (however, it started to get creepy by the 1 hour mark).
Nominated for 4 Oscars including Best Picture, "Get Out" was a unique horror film, but could've used some work here or there.
