Review of Get Out (2017) by Authority — 13 May 2017
Get Out is a wonderful little horror film with a dash of comedy. Its stranger in a strange land premise is grounded enough in reality that the "that's odd" moments don't make you think the main characters must be intentionally stupid to move the plot along.
Much of the charm of this movie is derived in a Joss Whedon like way by playing against the tropes we have been conditioned to expect. Get Out deserves more than the 8 I gave it, but my tastes tend more towards the blockbuster spectacle.
For the smaller more atmospheric movie that it is, it probably should be a 9. Either way it is well worth your time to give it a look.
