Review of Get Out (2017) by Fulcan — 07 Mar 2017
For many crowds, I'm sure an interracial relationship is scary enough. The film approaches horror with fewer jumpscares (though there was at least one), and more conceptual fear. Chris faces an inescapable estate where all the residents and visitors know some terrible secret kept hidden from him.
Get Out relies on absurdity of the supporting characters to embolden the normality of the protagonist, Chris, who not only has to suffer the supernatural elements of his hosts, but the absolute weirdness of their approach.
One of the smartest horror films, and smarter movies of recent years, both directed and written by Jordan Peele.
