Review of Get Out (2017) by Sarath R — 25 Jul 2018
A scintillating mind fuck of the highest order that evades facile genre classification, masterfully balancing thrills, chills and perhaps 2018's most prescient social commentary. Director Jordan Peele, renowned for his sharp comedic wit, showcased his horror chops, concocting a spooky magnum opus that defied the film category's worst conventions and stumbling blocks.
As directorial debuts go, this wasn't a splash or even a Kevin McCallister cannonball. This was a fucking tsunami that deliciously destroyed comfort zones everywhere.
