Review of Get On Up (2014) by Alexander A — 02 Aug 2014
The film likes to jump around the time frame, a lot. Other than that, I must say I felt as though I delved into the mind of James Brown, and I liked it there. The portrayal of him was great. It paid respect but did not make him appear god-like flawless (something most tribute films tend to do).
Plus, I could not get enough of those dance moves. It was funny when it needed to be. It was serious when it needed to be. Just like the music, it was right on cue and funky.
