Review of Get On Up (2014) by Mocha S — 31 Jul 2014
The trailers don't do the movie justice at all. I imagined that it would be someone like Eddie Murphy parodying James Brown on SNL but that was far from the case. The movie is very reverent of James Brown and does not parody or mock him at all.
It's kind of sad that I went to see it on a Friday night and the only people in the theater were old and white. The hip-hop. Pop and R&B kids should be seeing this movie in droves so they can get an idea about the music and the moves and the performance style that they have been copying for so long.
