Review of Get On Up (2014) by Carlos G — 15 May 2015
Chadwick Boseman steals the show, much like the man he plays, but the movie is not without its flaws. While the script and direction can't be insulted, there were some distracting and unnecessary creative choices.
The multiple fourth wall breakers didn't add anything and the other characters seemed relatively flat in comparison to the lead. Overall though, Get On Up is an above average biopic for its lead performance and a realistic, almost unflattering, portrait of the artist.
