Review of Get Low (2010) by Jeremy W — 19 Feb 2011
A well brushed folk tale of an excessive slow paced story filled with drama and endearing humor coming from a first time director. A film like this opens our eyes up to the possibility of realizing that subjection of prejudice that bellies our mysterious character portrayed by Robert Duvall. To atone for secrets that question the manner of his well-being, his wishes are granted in bestowing a living funeral to atone for his reckoning.
Here in this movie, we learn of a tribulation of mystery and concern that has put a great deal of isolation and fear is overcome not in terms of retribution but possibly through compassion, forgiveness and understanding. You have to forgive a folk yet heartwarming tale for being very slow, but it creates that endearing hope of misguided fervor.
Clearly Robert Duvall created a tortured struggling individual and the supporting cast of another dramatic Bill Murray, Lucas Black, & Sissy Spacek strive to keep our central character on its feet. We always try to seek for more, but not much endearing qualities can be taken advantage of to set the tone for the film.
