Review of Get Low (2010) by Yvan C — 28 Feb 2011
What a shame this film was virutally snubbed at the Oscars. Brilliant performance by Robert Duvall - just amazing. His final "speech' at the end of the film is some of the finest piece of acting one will ever see.
He's a gem as he always is. Sissy Spacek is great and Bill Murray's supporting role as the wiley, yet sensitive funeral home owner is a wonder to watch - just so smart and he brought an edge to that role that nobody else could have.
The screenplay is good though lulls a little and both the scoring of the film and the cinematography are beautiful. The story of an old man with a dark past who lives as a hermit, decides to plan his own funeral and attend it himself and invite everyone who has been gossiping about him for the past 40 years to attend.
I would recommend this film to most anyone. A memorable film that will stay with me a long long time.
