Review of Get Low (2010) by John M — 30 Apr 2011
The story of a hermit in early 20th century Tennessee who wants to throw a funeral party for himself before while he's still alive. Robert Duvall plays Felix Bush, a man who's been alone for the last 40 years.
Bill Murray is the director of a funeral parlor who accept the job of throwing this old hermit a funeral party. Things are deeper than you think when Felix starts to come out of his shell during the party planning.
An old girlfriend, Sissy Spacek, also allows Felix to start thinking about the past. A powerful film with a wonderful performance by Duvall. I wonder why this film was left out of Oscar nominations. Duvall gives a fine speech near the end which evoked a few tears.
It may be a bit slow for some people, but the ending is worth the wait.
