Review of Get Carter (1971) by Todd P — 17 May 2009
Starting off a bit slow and tame (i.e., boring) by current gangster/crime film standards, it picks up steam halfway through after Michael Caine relentlessly tracks down and mercilessly kills every thug that killed his brother.
Not quite as thrilling as "The Long Good Friday" (the other classic British 70s gangster film) and not as "psychedelic" as its poster would suggest, but lots of scenes of northern English urban bleakness and a badass Michael Caine taking care of business in particularly creative and brutal ways.
