A pretty simple story that has a profound effect. I understood the two Gerrys as being the same person. One stronger than the other, one able to survive, the other succumbing to the harshness of nature (of life in general?).
Beautiful cinematogrpahy, will appeal to anyone into natural landscapes. The earth and elements are depicted as magical yet surprisingly treacherous. A yin-yang kinda thing. Zen and contemplative in feel.
