Starring Matt Damon, Casey AffleckFirst film of the Death Trilogy that also counts Elephant and Last Days, Gerry is everything but entertaining, its long and it seems pointless but its not. Its definately not a film for everyone. The plot is very small, based on some miscellaneous incident, but gives a good reason for director Gus Van Sant to experiment like he so often does.The editing of this film and the rythm are extremely interesting, its mostly metaphorical. Two guys are lost in the desert like they are lost in their life. Van Sant pictures their relationship only by showing the way they walk and its very good stuff. Its deep and it makes you think about lots of things.The cinematography is pretty great with all those landscapes and wide shots. Matt Damon and Casey Affleck - who collaborated on the screenplay - gives very minimalist but realistic performances.This film may - probably is - be a little too artsy for most people and they would be right to dislike it cause as I said its nowhere near entertaining but its definately a good film to me.
