Review of Gerry (2002) by Justin A — 26 Feb 2009
Went too far with the minimalism. Having one two-minute shot where your leads walk silently through the desert might be poignant and gripping. Comprising ninety percent of your runtime with such shots turns the viewing into a chore.
Don't get me wrong, though... every other detail of the film is executed masterfully, considering the age and budget of the film. Casey Affleck at his best, too.
