Review of Gerry (2002) by Ben F — 07 Apr 2009
This movie would have been great if there was a more interesting story. It didn't help that the director was a pretentiously arrogant bore. The scene where the two main characters are walking and the camera is zoomed in on their profiles is maddeningly painful.
It went on far longer than way too long. I imagine it represents the pain and monotony of being lost in the desert, but it was like the film equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. The beautiful scenery was the reason I didn't give this one star.
If this story interests you watch the episode of 'I Shouldn't Be Alive' where the boyscout troop gets lost in the desert. Much more interesting - and true.
