Review of Gerald's Game (2017) by Jeremy H — 28 Sep 2017
This is the right way to adapt King. "Gerald's Game" brings the suspense, the psychological horror, and the intensly, intimately, human elements of King's novel roaring to life. Gugino's performance is breathtaking. She runs the show from beginning to end, complimented extremly well by a disturbing performance by Greenwood. Gugino takes us through a twisted ride of emotions. Going from feirce to fragile in an instant and back again.
I could go on all day about how much I enjoyed, and simultaneously was disturbed by, this excellent movie. Flanagans resume ia full of horror gems and this success is no surprise. It is arguably his best.
The film takes the best parts of the novel and launches into its darkest depths at breakneck speed. Bravo, all involved, bravo.
