Review of Gerald's Game (2017) by Neil P — 10 Nov 2017
This is such a simple premise for a horror film and one that doesn't require supernatural elements. What it does require is good direction to keep things interesting and strong acting to keep the viewer captivated.
Luckily we get both and Carla Gugino delivers in spades. As dehydration kicks in hallucinations begin and things get creepy and weird but never moreso than the real threat of being chained to a bed in the middle of nowhere with a hungry dog nearby.
King is having a good year with adaptations.
