Review of Gerald's Game (2017) by Lisa C — 13 Oct 2017
Very glad I knew about *that* scene near the end of the film, because I'll confess, I skipped right the hell past it. But Carla Gugino was absolutely brilliant, and the screenplay was every bit as mesmerizing as the book. I was filled with terror and dread the entire way through, and that's a real accomplishment. Also, fair warning since this is on Netflix rather than in the theaters: do NOT watch this in bed!
The one complaint I have is the attempt to modernize a 1992 story with current technology; I was a bit distracted by Gerald's phone during its appearances in the story. Nevertheless, this is a must-watch for any Stephen King fan. All things serve the beam.
