Review of Georgia Rule (2007) by Sean M — 20 Oct 2011
This movie is a mess. It's not funny, it's not touching, and it handles its drama so sloppily that it can't be taken seriously. And the tone is just... blah. None of the characters are likable in the least, or even annoying-but-interesting, so why should I care about them? All it is is purposeless, joyless, and bland.
It's not even so bad it's good, or so bad that it actually makes me angry like "The Other Sister." It's just completely without merit and deserves to be forgotten. It's a royal shame, because a good movie with a similar plot could've come from this.
Then again, we should probably all know by now not to expect anything really "good" from Garry Marshall... "Raising Helen" was okay, but mostly because I expected it to be terrible.
I expected this to be terrible and it delivered... but not in the way I hoped. Oh, how marvelously, hilariously terrible this should've been...
