Review of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) by Grant W — 19 Aug 2010
What a ridiculous film! I don't think I really agree with the message this film promotes. And it does seem to, all jokes aside, unapologetically promote the disagreeable notion that "a man being rich is like a woman being pretty.
" The music seemed unevenly distributed and somewhat uncalled for in most circumstances (I know this can be said about ALL musicals, but, all the same, this one stands out). Otherwise it is a riot and still gets most of its intended laughs over half a century later.
