Review of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) by Roy C — 05 Oct 2010
This is not the masterpiece as one would've hoped for but it's still more than watchable. Hawks directs a movie that is a cross-fire about the two most rotten human trademarks: Greed and animalistic sexual lust.
However, he delivers it all rapped up in dance and song and beautiful dresses (not to mention the figures to wear them) and he gets away with it all. Despite the fact that you don't really go away from the movie with much else that a few musical notes memorized it is a joyride while it lasts.
The movie mostly belongs to Jane Russel.
