Review of Gentleman's Agreement (1947) by Paul J — 22 Feb 2008
ï? I guess, at the time, this was powerful and maybe even controversial stuff. But it hasn't aged that well. Gotta love 'message pictures.' I'll take â??Focusâ?? over this any day (not the movie, which I haven't seen, but the book).
Or â??Crossfireâ?? come to think of it. I guess this deserves some credit due to context and also because it certainly helped establish the convention of the man whose family doesn't support his obviously just cause because of everyday concerns (in this case the future wife who wants to get along with her friends).
