Review of Gender Wars (2015) by Brad S — 03 Oct 2017
A solid film that didn't quite live up to my expectations. Billie Jean King's love affair with Marilyn, played with a subtle flair by Andrea Riseborough, is probably the best part of the movie.
..to my surprise. The hair salon scene where they first meet is filmmaking magic, a visceral and compelling series of moments that completely helped me feel like I was in King's skin. Maybe the film would've been stronger if it had only focused on King instead of splitting the time between Riggs and King.
