Review of Gattaca (1997) by Jonas K — 03 Aug 2013
In a future where one's life is determined by genetic engineering rather than education or experience. From the first moment you are brought to this world science can already tell everything about your opportunities, abilities, and the probabilities of acquiring life changing diseases.
In a future where your genes equals your value to the society. The ones that are born without genetic modification are called God children and has no chance of being anything more than a low class. The movie is filled with thought provoking questions.
The future that is represented in this film is so terrifying and seems so realistic and probable. Vincent is the main protagonist in this motion picture and Ethan delivered a solid performance aswell as all the others.
There is not a single bad performance in this film, but Ethan Hawke and Jude Law`s performance sticks out as one the best. The script is good, screenplay is solid, the performances are great, but the narrative is more than just great, it`s fenomenal.
I adore this film for it`s message and original narrative. Anything is possible if you set your mind to it. Now the soundtrack wasn`t that noticable and is mostly forgettable but servicable. All in all a great film you should watch but remember it is a sci-fi thriller/drama, so don`t expect any explosions.
