Review of Gaslight (1940) by Alex W — 05 Jul 2014
I really loved this British film without knowing there is a better american version that came 4 years later. Based on a play this psychological thriller takes you from being not sure who of the troubled couple to believe to being very sympathetic to the victim.
Anton Walbrook is a great very hateable villain to the torment and innocents in Diana Wynyards eyes. Lots of very clever set pieces in this film even though many, such as the gaslight, are from a bygone era.
Great plot, well acted and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
