Review of Garden State (2004) by Dave R — 14 Feb 2012
Andrew largeman goes home to jersey for his mother's funeral and has to work out a bunch of emotional baggage that he's been carrying around. along the way he reconnects with old friends and falls in love.
This film felt a lot like a wes anderson film: lots of quirky and emotionally wounded characters and a search for lost innocence. it's not a bad film but it just didn't hook me. there were a few dialogues I liked - the one in the pool about the concept of home was good - but overall nothing really blew me away.
