It's a pulp thriller based on the true life happenings of gangsters vs. gang busting cops in old timey Los Angeles. The film is pretty entertaining, but you just never feel for any of the characters.
It all feels so superficial. It's a fun ride, and the acting is pretty good, but Gangster Squad is no classic. Instead of using these actors talents to create a true crime drama, they're used here to just to beat the living hell out of each other and look good doing it.
