Review of Gangster No. 1 (2000) by Christopher D — 07 Dec 2007
The plot is thoroughly and eloquently developed through Malcom McDowell's streaming inner monologue and Paul Bettany's interactions. Bettany is the perfect quintessential psychotic; a brutal tyrant with an intense desire for power and class, and McDowell's internal narrative complements Bettany's incredible on-screen talent. All in all, one of my favorite movies I've seen in the last several years. McGuigan's writing is pure genius, and Bettany & McDowell really know how to bring it to life.
"I'm superman. King fucking Kong.".
