Review of Gangster No. 1 (2000) by Frankie P — 27 Mar 2009
It's like Oceans' 11 meets A Clockwork Orange meets Reservoir Dogs. Really, really, amazingly awesome up until Paul Bettany's character goes after Lenny, and then it just spirals downward into the realm of mediocrity. From that scene on, it just tries too hard- it becomes excessively disturbing (without being clever), and it's generally redundant. HOWEVER, barring the last twenty minutes or so, it's a BRILLIANT film, and even its low points are pretty damned good.
[Also, anyone who's seen Love Actually (or any of his other films), keep an eye out for Andrew Lincoln. It took me AGES to recognize him. *cackles*].
