Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Songeehn C — 12 Feb 2012
Very violent and bloody film, a Scorsese staple. The pace was slow but Scorsese did a wonderful job of recreating the mid-1800s New York City. Historically accurate for the most part, which is a huge plus.
The best part of the film is Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill the Butcher, one of the best villains I have ever seen. If I was not a fan of Scorsese's work, I likely would have rated this film lower.
