Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Brian W — 04 Mar 2012
Martin Scorsese tries to put in too many elements of the 19th Century New York City in Gangs of New York. It ultimately turns the film from a thriller to a documentary on the beginnings of New York City.
Although Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis put on a performance of a lifetime, the film suffers from being extremely long, and an ending that leaves the audience wanting.
