Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Saddam H — 30 Jul 2013
There are some inaccuracies and cliches, but thanks to the impressive performances and Martin Scorsese's nearly-perfect direction, it will successfully take you into New York of the 1840s and at least shows where the history of the mob originated from and entertains at the same time with solid action and amazingly fancy elements.
Cameron Diaz herself considers this the high point of career, and it sure is - Especially if it's more serious than all her comedic roles and her red hair was absolute transformation! Daniel Day-Lewis, unleashing his inner villain and Leonardo DiCaprio, who usually plays the same type of characters, but is always unique at playing characters from a certain time period. Also, you must credit the cameos of Liam Neeson, Brendan Gleeson, and Jim Broadbent.
~8.5/10.
