Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Jack G — 08 Jul 2011
The social context is well observed, the acting and script is top-notch, but after the first 2 hours it felt as if Scorcese tried to attach a completely different film onto its end, and the pace built by the shock moments and characterisation in the first are almost entirely lost; and up until the last shot the ending wasn't that great either.
