Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Luke M — 05 Sep 2014
An overstuffed, overlong, sprawling mess, Gangs of New York is far from easy or entertaining viewing. However, mere presence of the electrifying, intimidating and iconic Daniel Day-Lewis is worth every moment to enjoy, and the Irish master stands a head and shoulders above the rest of the cast.
The cast, save for good supporting work from Diaz and Gleeson, are a rather lacklustre group - and that goes for a disappointingly bland turn from DiCaprio.
