Review of Gandhi, My Father (2007) by Abhishek B — 24 Dec 2007
More than the quality to of the movie, I got engaged to watch the story.
The movie cud not do anything drive sympathy for Harilal.
He wanted to become a lawyer but cud not even pass metric(grade 10th) for three years. If he was sincere, (which he was not, in fact all the actions for Harilal suggest that he was extremely irresponsible and so called Awara). There is nothing to blame Mahatam for his son's actions.
However, I must say that it was a serious failure at Mahatma's part. A person who could deliver a message to entire country failed to deliver it to his own son.
I love Mahatama Gandhi and I love him more after having learnt how compassionately he handled the situation in respect of his son. He just went on forgiving all the deeds of harilal.
Mahatama has learnt the lesson of forgiving from Jesus very deeply and I must say Mahatamji is/was a true Christian.
