Review of Gandhi (1982) by Stephanie S — 23 Sep 2012
I had to watch this movie for my world religion class on Hinduism. I never watched an Indian based movie before. I truly enjoyed this movie. It was inspiring and heartbreaking all at the same time. I didn't know the struggle the people of India had in their own country much less other countries.
Gandhi was a great man and leaded his people good and right. This movie represents the Hindu nation greatly and respectively. I really admire the respect Hindu men give their wives. There was a part in the movie where Gandhi and his wife where telling the two young men the 7 steps of a wedding ceremony, and the wife told Gandhi that he was her best friend and her Guru.
This couple was so loving and faithful towards one another, and his wife backed her husband through it all . This man set out on a journey for not only himself and his family, but for his people and the world to show/teach them that anything is possible.
Gandhi relied on his faith and his religion, using his voice and his actions (through non-violence resistance) that he and his culture can and would be treated equally. I've gained a lot of respect for this man and what he did.
I Would love to show this movie to my children sometime.
