It's a more serious Gamera and a real excellent film at that. It offers a great story and interesting characters and aside from a few minor hiccups in the special effects, it's pretty to look at, too.
it's great, but completely overshadowed by what is to come in Gamera 2 and 3. Watch it just so you can see the sequels.
