Review of Gamer (2009) by Ashish T — 02 Jan 2011
Somehow, I felt they missed out on a huge opportunity to make this into a really, really good scifi psychothriller / mystery rather than an out-an-out action. Either as the game character discovering he's a sprite, or the player discovering his reality, slowly, gradually as the movie progresses. But you can't make both equally important, without losing out. Michael Hall was decent, though he slipped into every possible comicbook villain cliche possible towards the end. Slightly DeathRace2000 (new one), slightly Surrogates, slightly COD4, but mostly wasted potential.
But still a fairly decent watch.
