Review of Game Change (2012) by Hugo S — 23 Oct 2012
3: Fascinating film, but pretty sickening as well. It's a little hard to believe I used to respect John McCain. I definitely misjudged him, as apparently did many others. One could try to blame his advisors, but it was ultimately his decision to bring Palin onto the ticket.
I guess they were fooled by her charisma just as so many "average" Americans were. To think that she could have been a heartbeat away from the Presidency is incredible. The depth of her ignorance is simply astounding.
Other than that, she seems to be an average politican. Her ignorance makes the film quite funny at times, but in a very scary way if one really stops to think about it. Her actions since have of course proved the film and the media's initial response to her to be right on the money.
I'd feel bad I spent this much time focused on her story except for the fact that it speaks volumes about the state of our society and political process, which is a topic well worth some thought. Dreadfully disgusting and quite scary.
In some ways this is the ultimate horror film, but it does kind of have a happy ending at least.
