Not quite up to the level of RECOUNT, the film still manages to achieve a feat I would've thought impossible -- it made me feel compassion for all the parties involved in the story, particularly McCain.
The credit for this goes not just to the actors, who are all flawless, but also to the writer (Danny Strong) and the director (Jay Roach) for always playing fair with each moment.
