Review of Game Change (2012) by Mitch H — 21 Mar 2013
While this was a very cool story idea, this movie was overall kind of dull and a little stupid in some parts.
The story is about what happened behind the scenes on losing side of the 2008 campaign and the reason for that failure can be summed up into one person, Sarah Palin.
Julianne Moore was great as Sarah Palin but the character was so unlikeable that it kind of annoyed me to watch all her scenes. Also Ed Harris was a big miscast. He didn't look or sound like Mcain at all, he just did something to the person that didn't really work. The only character I really enjoyed was Woody Harrelson's character.
The whole storyline is interesting but I thought it was overall a little dull. The great performances sometimes really helped the movie move along but when it wasn't really about the cast, the movie was just one debate or speech after another and it really isn't that great. Lincoln did a way better job telling a story like this. Sure that had politics written all over it but that had something underneath that this movie lacked: a story of gold.
6.5/10.
