Review of Gallivant (1996) by Anne F — 29 Sep 2011
To call this film idiosyncratic does it an injustice; it is that, but is much more. The film follows the director, his elderly grandmother and young daughter on a road trip around the coastline of England, Wales and Scotland.
The holiday feeling of their travels is tempered by the knowledge that his grandmother *is* elderly, and that his daughter suffers from Joubert syndrome and is unlikely to reach adulthood; this may be their last trip together.
