Review of Galaxy Quest (1999) by Thomas P — 11 Sep 2013
Dedicated sci fi super fans AND their eye-rolling friends - ALL will be satisfied & appeased.
Great storytelling.
A true sense of adventure created by the director - with brief, touching moments of understanding - they really carry you into the joy of what Trekkies have known all along - *if you buy into the story, there is a great pay-off in the end.*.
My casual trekkiness has been peaked with this movie! I loved & still love it!!!
Poking fun & yet maintaining a clear, fond respectability for sci-fi, there are so many layers of hilarity here. Don't Miss This!!!
Brilliant satire, and yet still a Trekkie's Dream come true, there truly is something for everyone here.
*Justin Long as the unwavering young believer (in his first major role).
- *Sigourney Weaver, major star of the Alien franchise takes shots at female sci-fi stereotypes.
*Tim Allen plays it smooth - sliding easily from bitter, eye rolling has-been actor to the reluctant leader of a wildly unexpected adventure - we follow him with undying joy bc he's just that good here.
Watch it with ANY age - friends, parents, kids - and you will *all* get something out of this.
Enjoy, future trekkie...lol.
5 Spock touches out of 5.
