Review of Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life (2010) by Jérôme M — 11 Jun 2010
The great thing about "Gainsbourg", a film about a legendary singer/star, is that it seems to get away from all the pitfalls biographical movies usually fall into. I especially enjoyed the fact that the director based the story on the numerous stories of legendary proportions, not all necessarily true.
The film has more in common with a comic book than actual full feature film and this works perfectly. Although the beginning is a bit slow, more than two hours pass quickly. The unmistakable Laetitia Casta as Bridgit Bardot is perfect here in a cameo role.
It is also worth checking out the late Lucy Gordon, her last role in a film. Overall the film is enjoyable.
