Review of Gacy (2003) by Alan G — 18 Dec 2008
This is a great example of how just because you have the ability to make a movie on an interesting subject does not mean it will be any good whatsoever. The film started off with a poor attempt at a hook that was supposed to give us some sort of insight to Gacy's past and how since he had a dick for a father turned him into a sadistic serial killer... sorry. Didn't buy it.
I have lots of complaints about this film. But, hands down, the most ridiculous scene was when Gacy's wife investigated his little garage... she finds some gay porn magazines, what looks like surgical tubing, handcuffs, and a big black dildo. So which item does she pick up and stare at with utter shock and horror?? ....the handcuffs of course! During her confrontation scene with John she even holds them up and says "And what are THESE for then?!" ...Hello?!?! There was a giant rubber dick in that drawer, and the HANDCUFFS are what bothered you the most? As if any normal heterosexual male might just happen to have one tucked away in a drawer somewhere. But certainly not a pair of handcuffs...
Ridiculously uneventful, undramatic, un-scary, and truly worthy of being ignored by anybody who calls themselves a fan of horror.
