Review of Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder (2009) by Jeremy K — 24 Feb 2009
In the 4th Futurama film, Into the Wild Green Yonder, a supernova (of sorts) has crashed through the solar system, adding new life to certain planets. We then journey to Mars where Las Vegas is being destroyed and a new Las Vegas is being put up, courtesty of the Wong's, Amy's parents.
There's a slough of storylines that intertwine between one another but there is still a three parts that can easily be chopped up and turned into half hour shows. The first one involves Bender falling in love with the Don-bot's wife, the 2nd one involves intergalactic miniature golf and the third involves saving a Violet Dwarf from being destroyed.
The commonality between these is Fry, who suffered an accident and can now read everyone's thoughts and is the key to saving everyone. There's some funny moments, plenty of them throughout this film, and as always some bizarre twists that the show's creators have been known to take.
What saddens me is that this one could potentially be the last of Futurama that we EVER see. This didn't become apparent to me until the last 5 minutes when Fry finally tells Leela how he feels and the entire crew go through something I will not give away.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't let this be the last Futurama. I really enjoy the show and would love to see more of it. If not, this was a fun last ride.
